some interesting finds on Alafista, a 2GB USB drive in the shape of Ayanami Rei and Ultraman.
definitely a cute novelty item, something to put your files on and play with while waiting for your next presentation. ^^
boy! I must have been really stressed out to need to continue building the Musha this week.
a gundam without its legs… would always look like a SD gundam. ^^
as mentioned before, didn’t bother on painting this particular gundam. since me preggy wife wasn’t too keen on the paint smell at the back of the house (not good for the baby) and it looked good without painting anyway. although I did sneak off and spray all the gold parts somewhere outside the house while she was sleeping. ^^
did a bit more work on the MG Shin Musha Musket, didn’t like the gold foil stickers so used some masking tape to protect the brown area and sprayed the parts gold. also sanded it a bit to give the part some wood groves. they probably had to cut down a redwood to actually build a musket big enough for a gundam. ^^ on a unrelated note, why are the three musketeers called musketeers? they obviously more often use their rapiers rather than muskets. ^^
another reason why I ended up painting the gold parts, the golden upper chest area of my Shin Musha had a hairline inconsistency. must have been a problem in production since I see it on other people’s kit as well. And although its more of an aesthetic problem than anything else, it’s nothing a few spritz of gold paint can’t fix. pity I wasn’t able to cover the whole thing before I ran out of paint. ^^;
I’m not really a big fan of cosplay. and apart from the usual bouts of halloween trick or treat as a kid, I have never worn an anime inspired costume before. although it is not to say that I do not appreciate the novelty of seeing people in costumes walking around in your average everyday places like the mall or in the streets, the intricacy of a well-made costume, and the accuracy of a cosplayer’s rendition of a 2D character.
A while back, I remember a friend told me about an interview she did regarding a famous Cosplayer. I didn’t give it much thought then, thus I never realized how well-known she was up until lately when a commenting war ensued on dannychoo.com a few days ago. Danny posted on his news item section an image of one of the most duly noted cosplayers in the Philippines Blackmage9 Alodia Gosiengfiao. the comment match on the post went so bad as considerate Danny Choo ended up having to clean up all the tripe off his site.
Alodia seems to do well with her cosplay. And with disregard for all the relentless battering of inept naysayers, I sincerely hope she will continue on doing her cosplaying for folks who have an appreciation and passion for it.
