Guntank under a minute

April 28, 2007 By: marvin Category: HCM-Pro, Gundam No Comments →

If you want a coolsome detailed gundam but you don’t have much time on your hands to build them, then get yourself a HCM-Pro Gundam. however I never realized how quick it was to build a HCM-Pro was until I got myself a Guntank. finding my camera to take these picture actually took longer than finishing it. lol

the HCM-Pro Guntank for dummies comes in 2 major parts: Top and Bottom. ^^

Gundam & Figure Display

During the time our house was being remodeled, I decided to turn one of the rooms into a library/office. I had shelves and built-in cabinets installed for books and lights for the top shelves where I can display my gundams. However as you can see on the images below, my books have been completely overrun by figures and gundams.

Cabinet
the shelves on these cabinets were originally wood panel shelves, however I had them changed to glass to let light flow all the way down to the display at the bottom. :p

shelf 1
shelf 2
my Shelves, although I’m not quite that happy about the aesthetic quality of thise ugly looking metal braces that holding them up, but I guess as long as get the job done. ^^

cabinet 1-2
cabinet 1-3
the first cabinet doesn’t have lights on them since it was originally meant to have books in them. instead I have all these dust gatherers. lol ^^

Cabinet 2-1
Cabinet 2-2
the 2nd display cabinet, not quite full yet, I guess that means I can still get me some figures. ^^ but then again, I still have a lot of unopened gundam kits I haven’t had time to build. :p

cabinet 3-1
cabinet 3-2
cabinet 3-3
my other cabinet. If you’re wondering about the white cloth behind and below the figures, those are used bounce fabric softener dryer sheets. just a bit of Martha Stewart for figure collecting otaku’s out there. Some of the figures I get smells like something between burnt rubber and a skunk’s hinie. so I keep the bounce sheets there to kill the smell. and yes, it works for smelly feet sneakers too. ^^ another strange thing about these fabric sheets is that ants seem to steer away from them. don’t try wrapping your lunch in them though, not unless you love the smell of soap on your mouth. ^^

Gundam to go.

April 25, 2007 By: marvin Category: Games, weblinks, Gundam, Random Rants No Comments →

found this link via Gunota as usual. ^^ A Gundam game for those people who are always on the go called You are Gundam!. Bandai has agreed to provide the first game for DOCOMO’s motion sensor equipped mobile phones.
you are gundam
People play it by mimicing action moves done by mobile suits. when the action is done the right way, the original animation sequence is reproduced on you mobile phone. Although the chances of this particular game becoming available on your local mobile network borders from outrageously slim to ridiculously impossible, it’s not hard to see similar type of motion sensing games be available from local providers soon. The technology behind it is done via software provided by GestureTek of California

Speaking of software, I’ve have just upgraded to Windows Vista. the new OS is visually stunning, albeit does need a bit of getting used to, but I guess the same has been said when making the switch from Win98 to WinXP. My only real complain about it is that it hogs up a lot of RAM space. thus a computer would probably have to have 2 gigabytes of RAM for it to run smoothly and probably 1 gig to run adequately. Don’t ever try it on a 512mb PC, or you’ll just end up swearing like a drunken sailor.

Some stale Gundam news

April 24, 2007 By: marvin Category: Stray Thoughts, Model Kits, Gundam Fix Figuration, Gundam No Comments →

Yep these are old gundam news from gunota, but still new news for me since I haven’t had the time to check on them until now.

Platinum Gundam

Got too much cash on your hands? feel like you haven’t spent enough moolah on Gundam goodies? well look no further, get yourself a Platinum Fix Gundam just for the holee carp price of $250,000USD!
Platinum Gundam
this Gundam is made out of 1400g of platinum and is 13 cm high… if you don’t believe me you can check out the original blog source. The figure will be available for viewing at Basel World 2007 at Basel Switzerland from April 12 to 19. wonder if it would have been cheaper to just build a 1:1 Gundam lol.

Gundam World 2007

Yet another reason to visit Japan. the Gundam World 2007 being held at Nasu Highland Park. and though I have a incredible itch down on my underfoot to go, I don’t think my wallet can take another juicing for out of town trips. lol. Anyway the exhibit is open until the end of August, and entrance is free for park visitors. Dengeki Online has a news entry on it, if you understand Japanese click on the link and head on over there to find out more.

New Gundam Stuff

And finally some Hobby Magazine Gundam Merchandise News straight from from gunota:
HGUC Blue Destiny Unit 1 - July, 1,575 yen
MG Gundam One Year War 0079 ver. - TV color version, July, 3,150 yen (this is NOT MG 100, btw)
HCM-Pro Zaku IIJC - June, 2,100 yen
HCM-Pro Akatsuki - full set, July, 5,460 yen
HCM-Pro Evangelion Unit 01
GFF Musha Gundam - regular/Gundam Musou version
GFF Psyco Gundam - 1/144 scale
there are some noteworthy items here, (most if not all of which has been mentioned by Mark Parrenas at Winterheim HDD).
The MG Gundam OYW will be released in full solid Gundam colors.
A 1/200 HCM-Pro Akatsuki with both Oowashi and Shiranui. it’ll be interesting to see the same shiny gold surfaced plastic gundam made small.
The HCM-Pro Evangelion Unit 01… what kind of a gundam is that you ask? well a skinny alien technology mecha. not in any way related to the gundam series. but since Bandai has the license to make kits of them, I guess they decided to add Gainax’s Neo Genesis Evangelion into the HCM-Pro line.
the GFF Musha Gundam will also be an interesting Addition to the Fix Figuration line. Guess Katoki Hajime didn’t spare revamping the samurai styled SD Gundam line as well. but don’t worry, we won’t be getting giant sized head GFFs. ths GFF is definitely going to be full sized. ^^
and lastly the 1/144 scale GFF Psyco Gundam. the Psyco Gundam would probably be similar to the Seed series’ Destroy Gundam. I’ve seen scratch builders who would make them at the same 1/144 scale using a 1/60 perfect grade strike gundam frame. suffice to say this release is going to be one huge wallet busting GFF! ^^
