Building the MG Turn A Gundam
Since I promised myself that I’d buy the 100th MG no matter what it would turn out as, so I got myself a Turn A Gundam to build. ^^ although I seem to complain about the Turn A Gundam a lot on previous posts, the MG Turn A Gundam isn’t actually an ugly kit. in fact it’s one of the best I had the chance to build so far. I guess it’s only because I’m not all that fond of the mustache design. :p
the kit only had 2 clear parts, one for the head and another for its middle section. a little trick I picked up from Fichtenfoo, paint the insides of the clear part with silver, it gives the part a bit more depth. ^^
buy the 100th MG and get a free 1/100 cow. ^^
black part of eyes comes as a separate part, to bad I wasn’t able to take notice of it prior to painting the part. ^^;
hmm… what to do with the mustache that I just love to hate?
…Where a v-fin is supposed to be, on the head of a gundam. ^^ although what defines the Turn A Gundam is its mustache, I must say, putting the v-fin on the head does make it look more respectable and giving it a bit of a bullish charm.
what I built so far. ^^ will probably continue working on it within the week. hopefully I’d be able to find a bit of time for it and squeeze in building an arm or two tomorrow. btw the mustache is probably going back under its face when I’m done. ^^

I probably watched 4 episodes of Turn A and then gave up, but for the actual Turn A Gundam I don’t mind the moustache and I think it’s a pretty decent looking robot. I’ll be interested to see how yours turns out…wherever the v-fin turns up.

Otaku Surf, thanks, lol. sorry to hear the anime wasn’t that good, butat least you got to watch a few episodes, I figured if I did watch them I wouldn’t hav made that many mistakes building the Turn A. ^^;
good luck on your future spray painting plans. ^^ btw I concur… YAY COW!!! ^^
Ash, the panel lines were a real pain for me. lol but still building it is a joy. then again its probably just because I haven’t had the chance to build a gundam for so long. ^^
Mi-Chi, yep, that’s spray paint. haven’t used my airbrush for a while now.

I’ve never seen Turn A Gundam wip pictures before. Come to think of it, I’ve actually never seen any close up pics of that model yet. So I’m looking forward to the finish model.

Hi there,
Turn A is actually quite a good series… kind of a “old school” kind of gundam feel to it, with good quality animation (fluid), unique plot and character development and a great ending! The fight scenes were very interesting too!
If u were wondering what the swiss-army knife fin-like mechanism at the back of the legs are supposed to be, those can extend out quite a bit (like in the anime) serving like some sort of a thruster motor for jumping. The hatches at the back is to release its ultimate weapon the Moonlight Butterfly.

Are you already finished this kit?

hi Eyeshield, yes I’ve finished this kit:

I’d rate the articulation as average, but the kit itself looks awesome even without repainting.
