Gundamaniac

Some news on upcoming summer movies from tinseltown. looks like two classic non superhuman heroes are going head to head this summer. Marvel Comic’s the Invinvible Iron Man. and DC’s the Dark Knight better known as Batman is lined up for a sequel.


Yep its the battle of the billionaire playboy alter egos. although no doubt Bruce Wayne/Batman would most probably wipe the floor off Tony Stark/Iron Man, it remains to be seen who would knock the costumed backside off their rivals in the box office and make actual real world billionaires off their producers. ^^ It was rumored that Mission Impossible’s Tom Cruise was supposed to produce as well as star(K) in the new Iron Man movie, however in the end it was Robert Downey Jr. who would be filling those iron clad boots. The role of Batman however will be reprised by Micheal Keaton… oops wrong Batman sequel… lol. ^^ the Dark Knight will once again be played by Chistian Bale.

Chicks dig the car, but what about the Bat Bike??? ^^;

Other Summer Adventurers:
Indiana Jones 4 (the city of the gods) *unconfirmed title
looks like Indiana Jones will be passing his Fedora Hat and Whip to Mutt-Sam Witwicky as Shia LaBeouf (Transformers Movie) would be joining in with Harrison Ford in the fourth Installment of the movie. I can see it now… “Indy: I AM YOUR FATHER!”

The Mummy 3 (Tomb of the Dragon Emperor)
Brendan Fraiser is back as Rick O’Connell but now fresh out of Egyptian mummies to bash, turns to the other side of the world to the Middle Kingdom to battle and possibly get his tail kicked by the Dragon Emperor Jet Li. (guess Jackie Chan wasn’t badass enough to play the villain). ^^ unfortunately though Rachel Weisz won’t be joining the mummy ride this time around.  

I’ve started to work on a new kit. although it’ll probably be a while until I find time to finish it. I did however find time during the weekend to paint the parts (while on the runner again). lol

can you guess the gundam by looking at the parts? mind you that they aren’t in their original colors. I’ve already painted the parts in this picture.

here is a closer look at the parts. ^^ if you’ve already guessed what gundam this is, great job, chances are you’ve already built one of these. ^^ if not here is a better clue.

You probably already know what gundam this is by now, and if you said the MG Strike Freedom. you guessed wrong. it’s the Guncannon… lol just kidding, yup it’s the Strike Freedom. I’m basing the color scheme on the one built by Keita. check out the image below for the MG Strike Freedom version Keita. ^^

I can’t promise my Strike Freedom will look just as cool, chances are mine would look like Dog Diarrhea beside Keita’s Strike Freedom. but still I hope it won’t turn out looking too shabby. ^^;

Finally done with the Turn A Gundam, as it turned out the gundam was actually an easy build. but one thing that made it easier was the labels on the part runners.

this makes finding parts a whole lot easier. ^^
A more seasoned gundam builders would probably pre-build their gundams before painting the individual parts, I however usually paint the part while they are still on the runners. (call me mr. lazy bum) ^^. Painting it this way saves a lot of time, but isn’t without drawbacks. as it turned out, I ended up wasting paint on parts I end up covering in the end. like using up a can of gunmetal paint on the Turn A’s internals. ^^;

even worst, ended up not using enough paint on a part, like the blue part on the Turn A Gundam’s stomach.

one thing I was lucky to find however was parts to mod the gundam hammer or morning star. my wife suggested I find a cheap chain bracelet from a local girl’s accessory store. as it turned out I got myself a chain bracelet for a little over two USD. a real good deal for my gundam’s ball and chain. ^-^

btw Win XP users would probably notice the background as the bliss wallpaper. ^^;
a final note before the gallery, though it’s more of a question to anyone who has watched the Turn A Gundam series. The Turn A’s back legs kinda reminds me of a swiss army knife. building the MG kit made me wonder, why does it look that way? did they run out of materials to build armor plating for it? does it serve any purpose? do I ask to much questions? ^^ in any case it can’t be as bad looking as the gundam’s mustache. lol (^V^)

finally the Turn A Gundam gallery. ^^ sorry no cow shots. ^^ although thinking about it now, the cow would have probably fit perfectly with the Window’s XP Bliss background. ^^;

Just some random rantings the new wordpress:

Its seems that none of the current RSS reader plugin works on the new wordpress 2.2. I’ve been searching for something that would work, but to my dismay, my whole week search came out with NOTHING! As it turned out, most of the old plugins won’t work properly on the new worpress software! how the heck can they call it a software upgrade, quite frankly it feels more like a downgrade than anything else.

Since I promised myself that I’d buy the 100th MG no matter what it would turn out as, so I got myself a Turn A Gundam to build. ^^ although I seem to complain about the Turn A Gundam a lot on previous posts, the MG Turn A Gundam isn’t actually an ugly kit. in fact it’s one of the best I had the chance to build so far. I guess it’s only because I’m not all that fond of the mustache design. :p

the kit only had 2 clear parts, one for the head and another for its middle section. a little trick I picked up from Fichtenfoo, paint the insides of the clear part with silver, it gives the part a bit more depth. ^^

buy the 100th MG and get a free 1/100 cow. ^^


black part of eyes comes as a separate part, to bad I wasn’t able to take notice of it prior to painting the part. ^^;

hmm… what to do with the mustache that I just love to hate?

…Where a v-fin is supposed to be, on the head of a gundam. ^^ although what defines the Turn A Gundam is its mustache, I must say, putting the v-fin on the head does make it look more respectable and giving it a bit of a bullish charm.


what I built so far. ^^ will probably continue working on it within the week. hopefully I’d be able to find a bit of time for it and squeeze in building an arm or two tomorrow. btw the mustache is probably going back under its face when I’m done. ^^
