October 30, 2007 By: marvin Category: Travels 7 Comments →

The Highlight of the day was meeting up with Tokyo’s resident stormtrooper/Otaku King Danny Choo.
Danny Choo
btw he’s the fat guy in blue. ^^ just kidding Danny.
We got to talk about blogging, life, work and the web. and I gotta say, I learned a lot from listening about whats going on and about the web and DannyChoo.com. makes me kinda wish I hadn’t given up my IT career years ago. ^^;
thanks for taking time off your busy schedule to meet up with us Danny. Hope everything goes well on your plans. btw on my count, we still owe you dinner or at least another round of coffee.

Japan Day 1: Grand Prince Akasaka Hotel

October 30, 2007 By: marvin Category: Travels No Comments →

I wouldn’t have expected much on our first day in Japan since we practically spent more than half the day traveling. But in the end, I’d have to say the day was full of pleasant experiences.
As soon as we arrived in Japan, we got out of immigration, claimed our luggage and got out of the airport just in time to ride the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka. Funny thing about the Limousine bus thought, the first time I heard about it, I said “heeeey, Limousine!” :D but as it turned out it was just a name, and what came to pick us up was 100% bus and 0% Limousine. ^^; but still, it was still a comfortable ride to the hotel.
Grand Prince Akasaka
the image above was taken at night, although we did arrive at our hotel around 3pm.
Room
The hotel room was quite nice, and had a modern contemporary feel to it.

Room
the view outside was nice as well, during the day as well as at night.

but what had my wife raving was the bathroom.
bathroom
it seem as though it was made out of plastic molded just right for the room dimensions. Danny of DannyChoo.com had a blog entry about it a while back, check out his site more info. however what was would literally get first time Japan visitor to jump off their seats was the Japanese washlet.
washlet
even bidet users (myself included) would get the crap knocked out off their behinds from the features these extrodinary toilet seats have.
washlet
“No need to hire someone to constantly sit on the crapper for you, the washlet keeps the toilet seat warm with one push of a button”. ^^ one can also control the amount of pressure the water sprays on oneself. and if one’s bathroom is the size of a hotel lobby, a special type of washlet that comes with a SD slot to play classical music from mp3. ^^

Gundamaniac’s Pilgrimage

Leaving on a plane tomorrow to visit the Land of the Rising Sun. Although this isn’t the first time I traveled to Japan, I’m still excited. :) it’ll try to update my blog as much as I can while I’m there. I do apologize about not being able to upload some more images of the Musha gundam. Hopefully I’ll be able to do that when I get back.

Brief Safe

October 27, 2007 By: marvin Category: Stray Thoughts No Comments →

have you ever been the unfortunate recipient of airport luggage theft? or are you planning to stay in those cheap youth hostels on that european road trip, but tired of brining your wallet with you while taking a shower. well have no fear, ’cause brief safe is here!
brief safe
comes complete with skid marks :D and uglier than my previous underwear post.
on a related note, I’ve heard horror stories from friends and relatives who had their stuff stolen from airport checkin luggage or from their hotel room. a sister of mine taught me a trick on how to discourage would be theives from stealing stuff from your luggage: turn your clean clothes inside out and just stuff them into your travel bag, people usually don’t like rummaging thru what looks like a bag of used clothing. then again if you do have the brief safe you can always put it on the top in your luggage. as soon as someone opens and peeks into your luggage, the first thing they would say would be “oh crap!” ^^
