Gundamaniac

Another 1/400 scale Gundam Collection release is the NZ-333 Alpha Azieru. and like the previously released GP03 Dendrobium and the AMX-002 Neue Ziel, it came prepainted and detailed out of the box.
This giant sized mobile armor was first featured in Chars Counterattack piloted by the gifted but naive young pilot Quess Paraya, then again in the same sequence on Gundam Evolve battling ace pilot Amuro Ray in the Nu Gundam. (watch the Gundam Evolve sequence on you tube)

Although the mobile suit didn’t get much action in mobile armor mode, I do prefer the odd bird/insect look as compared to the monolith mobile armor mode of the Psycho Gundam or the lame duck mobile armor mode of the Destroy Gundam.

The NZ-333 Alpha Azieru was meant to be the strongest mobile weapon in the Neo Zeon arsenal, and as a testament to that it did battle the legendary Amuro Ray in the Nu Gundam and survived. however in the end it was too easily destroyed by Chan Agi in a badly damaged Re-GZ.

I brought this particular HCM-Pro just for its novelty value. although Bandai has released kits for the Evangelion series before, but the EVA-01 was the first ever non-gundam HCM-Pro.

The details on the HCM-Pro EVA-01 was quite good, but the good news doesn’t stop there, Bandai wasn’t stingy on accessories as well. G-type shoulder armor with optional radar and scope attachments, a pallet rifle, bazooka, a hand gun, progressive knife, two counter swords, two magorok swords, umbilical cable which connects back to the Arsenal shed, two pairs of optional hands, and a plastic sheet AT field. ^^

it also came with a positron rifle which looks much like a tank than anything else. ^^


but what really had me raving was the cleverly concealed joints underneath the rubber arms. the bad news however is that the same rubber material does a rather poor job of holding the EVA’s large hands. then again it’s nothing a little white glue can fix, (learned the white glue trick from dark sith lord Danny Choo). ^^

and now for a bit of fun with the EVA01.

I know I’m probably the last one to post screen shots of the new Gundam 00 series. but what the heck, since I had a kick watching it, I decided to post the screen shots anyway.

what do you get when you cross the Exia with an original RX-78 gundam….this guy. Seed destiny fans would probably include the Destiny’s wings of light in as well. ^^

Are your kids scared of that pesky monster under the bed? well your kids need not tremble in fear anymore because gundam light is here! just tell the kids the gundam is there to protect them, plug in some batteries and leave the gundam on the bedside table, and as soon as they start shouting MA! PA! the voice sensor activates the gundam light as it glows alternately in different shades of colour.

green means the gundam is good to go go go

turning red hot and angry, raring for battle

turning blue, feeling lonely and alone since there are no more monsters to fight.

however if you don’t have kids yet, you can always buy one just because you like the purdy lights. ^^
