Japan Day 3: Tokyo City Tour
Tokyo Tower
want to see most of tokyo but kinda short of time, well come and visit the Tokyo tower to see a bird’s eye view of the city.
I spy with my little eye something that makes all that wonderfull anime. ^^
Tokyo tower’s two mascot Nop and Pon, although I think they are supposed to be towers, they look more like pink radishes to me. ^^;
Meiji Shrine
If I’m not mistaken, Emperor Meiji is the only person in the world recognized by Shintoism as a Kami. the Meiji Shrine is an interesting place to visit if you are interested in the Japanese culture. there are a lot of interesting customs to be learned just by visiting this place. a worth while stop ^^
Barrels of Sake! ^^
Ema Tablets, People can write down their personal wishes on these wooden tablets and the following morning the priest/priestess of the shrine would be conveyed to the dieties of the shrine. I wanted to write on one wishing for world peace and a GP03 Gundam Dendrobium. ^^ unfortunatly I couldn’t find the place where they get those wooden plates from. although after looking at my images for this post, I did realise that they were selling them right where they sold charms. doh!
Lucky charms for sale
I was lucky enough to witness a wedding during my shrine visit. and since I was curious about the wedding attire, I asked our guide about the large wedding hat the bride was wearing. she told me it was to hide the bride’s horns?!? hmm… ^^;
Ginza
one of the more upscale shopping areas of Tokyo, although I couldn’t find any figures or gundams anywhere. ^^
Shinjuku
Our last stop took us to Shinjuku, where our new hotel (Keio Plaza Hotel) was. although I did prefer staying at our old hotel, we had to transfer to this one to meet up with the rest of our party. fortunately however I found out that there was a Yodobashi Camera just a block away. a place where they sell good price electronics. ^^ went there imediately and got myself a Canon EF 75-300mm IS zoom lens and a few lens caps for a fairly good price. ^^
There was a subway stop near the hotel as well. which is where I found this curious eye thing.
big brother is watching. ^^
I also found a curious little place which I thought was an anime shop, but as it turned out it was actually a pachinko parlor. ^^
and finally an image of a Thomas the Tank Engine bus I found while wandering around Shinjuku. Probably better known by its American title, shining time station. ^^
