Cebu, Tarlac and La Union Philippines
Been out of town these past few weeks having to attend weddings and some work related activities. and while traveling around the Philippines just had to check out some of the more touristy places along my stops. just click the read the rest link below to check out more images from the trip.
My first stop was Cebu, I believe I did a post on Cebu a while back, unfortunately it seems that the post was lost during the first site hacking incident. In any case here are some of the images from this trip.
Philippine Airlines served some decent looking grub for their business class clients
Â
loved the fact that the seat reclines to full sleeping position. my only complaint was that the flight wasn’t long enough for a nap. ^^;
nice hotel room down at Mactan Shangri-la.
a lovely forest view outside the hotel balcony
Mactan Shangri-la’s Private beach.
please check out the gallery below to check out the rest of the images from Cebu
the next stop was La Union, this place was 6 hours drive away from Manila by car. so decided to drop by Isdaan in Gerona Tarlac for lunch, unfortunately I wasn’t able to break some plates off the wall this time around, since it was too darn hot. (did a post about this place a while back in case anyone was interested). ^^ I did however snap a few pictures before leaving.
goat drawn carriage. ^^
have monkeys spit and urinate on you and win free fish.
the monkeys, well at least we know it isn’t real spit and pee.
after Tarlac, went straight to La Union and to the Hotel. The hotel’s name was Thunderbird Resort, was actually hesitant of booking at first since it sounded like an old 1960’s TV show. but was quite impressed when we saw the actual hotel.
The hotel motif was reminiscent of the Greek isle of Santorini, an Illusion made more prefect by the fact that the hotel was built overlooking the sea. the rooms were equally impressive, a lot more spacious than that of the one I stayed in Cebu and even had a built-in connector for me ipod. it also had a beach, a golf course, and a casino just a golf cart ride away. will post some more images on this post however if anyone wants to check out more then browse through the gallery pages at the end of this post. folks interested in booking might want to check out the contact info on their site.
the attendant tells me, “we have free Wifi, just plug in your computer to the network outlet”. my first reation was, “okaaay ^o^” imagine my surprise when they actually did have wifi (without the network cable). ^^;
a look at the beach
Finally some more images of La Union

Woah, that La Union hotel looks awesome. I’m so planning a roadtrip there. I think I went to their hotel in Rizal… Can’t remember though if the name was Thunderbird.

Mars, I haven’t been in the one at Binangonan Rizal but judging from the pictures in their site, it looks cool as well. btw if you’re planning a roadtrip might I suggest Fort Ilocadia at Laoag. nice place with lots of differnet activities.
Eleznd, Thanks, glad you like the post. ^^

marvin, yeah, heard that place is pretty cool :)! I was in La Union around 2-3 years ago and my friend’s cousin took us to this development site. I think it was that Thunderbird resort! Damn gas prices, I’m beginning to think roadtrips aren’t such a good idea…

that was probably it, the hotel just opened less than a month ago. about gas prices, yeah it has steadily been going up lately.
