My Otaku Room

May 23, 2008 By: marvin Category: Personal, Stray Thoughts, Anime, HCM-Pro, Model Kits, Gundam, Figures and Gashapons, Gundam Fix Figuration, Toys and Goodies 17 Comments →

Danny Choo has been encouraging folks to post an image of their Otaku room. So I decided to join the bandwagon and start taking photos of my Otaku sanctuary. ^^
When you enter married life, figures, gundams, and other toys will not be welcomed in the bedroom. ^^ Trust me, even if your wife is an otaku, it’s very unlikely she would want your anime posters hanging in the bedroom wall. Besides you wouldn’t want any other distraction there other than your wife. ^^ So naturally you’d have to keep all of those anime goodies and merchandise in another room.
Otaku Office
Originally this room was supposed to be an office/den or library, however it has long been overrun by gundams and figures. ^^
Shelves
The top shelves are where I keep recently built Gundams. A tip: keep them high up to make sure children visitors can’t reach them. ^^

Stuff beside my computer are recently opened figures or built gundams that I play work with while on my desk. ^^;
toys
Win Chan, first saw her on Danny San’s site, wanted her but couldn’t find her, until recently when my wife got her for me via Amazon. ^^ Yatta!!! Btw another figure she got me way back was Aya Natsume.

Halogen lights on display shelves may have seem like a good idea at the time, but I soon realized tis not so good for PVC Figures. ^^; so I keep them off unless there’s a visitor or if I wanted to take a picture of the room. ^^

And yes that’s a My Melody at the bottom of the picture. My wfe has her running around the house like a rabbit. Much to my dis…*ouch* (>.<*)
My Melody Gashapon ball capture technique…My Melody I choose you! pika pikachu! LOL.

Top cabinets still full of unopened GFFs and kits. Gotta find time to build them these days. ^^; Underneath is a foldable sofa bed, just in case the misus throws me out and I have to find company with my gundam…just kidding. In case we have guests who like to be surrounded with gunpla and figures. ^^
Gundam Cabinets
Not all me gunpla and figures are here in this room though, left a few up in the attic. Was supposed to convert the area to a living room, unfortunately it too has been overrun, but this time by wedding gifts. hHaven’t disposed of them all yet. Btw if anyone reading this gave us a wedding present… not to worry, your stuff isn’t up here in the attic. ^^; orz

HCM Pro Wing Gundam, Gundam Deathscythe and Gundam Heavyarms

April 03, 2008 By: marvin Category: news, HCM-Pro, weblinks, Gundam 3 Comments →

some gunota news. looks like Bandai is simultaneously releasing three Gundam Wing HCM-Pro’s the Wing Gundam, the Deathscythe and the Heavyarms. each going for 2,940 yen. Personally I prefer the Endless waltz version of these mobile suits, so I’m not particularly excited about these release. ^^;

looks like it isn’t the Wing Gundam or the Wing Gundam zero who gets the HCM-Pro treatment first. This time around its the Deathscythe.

HCM-Pro Evangelion test type EVA-01

HCM Pro Evangelion test type EVA-01
I brought this particular HCM-Pro just for its novelty value. although Bandai has released kits for the Evangelion series before, but the EVA-01 was the first ever non-gundam HCM-Pro.

The details on the HCM-Pro EVA-01 was quite good, but the good news doesn’t stop there, Bandai wasn’t stingy on accessories as well. G-type shoulder armor with optional radar and scope attachments, a pallet rifle, bazooka, a hand gun, progressive knife, two counter swords, two magorok swords, umbilical cable which connects back to the Arsenal shed, two pairs of optional hands, and a plastic sheet AT field. ^^

it also came with a positron rifle which looks much like a tank than anything else. ^^

but what really had me raving was the cleverly concealed joints underneath the rubber arms. the bad news however is that the same rubber material does a rather poor job of holding the EVA’s large hands. then again it’s nothing a little white glue can fix, (learned the white glue trick from dark sith lord Danny Choo). ^^

and now for a bit of fun with the EVA01.

1/144 SHCM-Pro RX-78-2 Gundam

1/144 SHCM-Pro RX-78-2 Gundam
One of the cooler gundams around, the super high complete model
progressive RX-78-2 Gundam! This 1/144 scale gundam has more detail
than a 1/100 master grade RX-78-2 kit.

peekaboo, gundam flashing. ^^
1/144 SHCM-Pro RX-78-2 Gundam
so many weapons yet only 2 hands. ^^

The armory, a closer look of the Gundam’s weapons. all this gundam
needs now is a catapult. ^^
the 1/144 super HCM-Pro RX-78-2 is one great kit, my only complaint is
that the armor hood on the arm needs a bit of an effort to open, a bit
more than I’m comfortable with to use on a small plastic gundam kit.
but still I’m hoping that Bandai would continue to make more
SHCM-Pros. until then I guess I’ll just have to keep my fingers
crossed. ^^
